3.A.7. Via Krupp

In the early 20th century, German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp commissioned the engineer Emilio Mayer to design and build a pathway which would link his own Marina Piccola, where he habitually moored his yacht each summer.

To scale the roughly 100 meter drop, the engineer cut a series of hairpin bends into the rock, set so close together that they appear almost to overlap.

Your choice is: when you make your way down by foot to reach Marina Piccola and, if you don’t fancy the return hike uphill, travel back to the center by bus!

Important Update: This switchback pathway is currently closed due to a danger of falling rocks
